How to decide

Deciding to euthanise your pet may be the most difficult decision you ever have to make.

The quality of an animals life is defined by their overall physical and mental well being. For example, can they still manage to go for a walk? Are they eating well? Are they in any pain? It is important to remember that all animals are different, ultimately you know your animal best and the decision is yours to make. There are a couple of things you can do to help your decision:

Mark good and bad days on a calendar

You can even split the days into morning and evening and mark these separately. When the bad days start to outweigh the good, it may be time to start discussing euthanasia.

Pick 3 things your pet loves to do

For example chasing the birds in the garden/barking at the postman/going for a walk. When your pet can’t do these things anymore, they may not have a good quality of life and euthanasia may be the kindest option.
